East Dulwich (Mobile) Forum

Our beloved Forum mentioned in The Telegraph Bonne Bouffe Review

La Bonne Bouffe, London SE22, restaurant review:

There is only one thing in life worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about...
Sorry - just seen there's already a thread about this in the General section
"A paradiso of unintentional comedy".

That's no way to talk about Dulwich Fox.
It is a general principle that outsiders see the tacit predispositions of insiders more clearly than insiders could (Elias). This is one of the major reasons why, tribally, we tend to form alliances that idealise our own virtues and denigrate the other (to keep them from forcing a revelation).

I think we should be more resolute in thinking of ourselves as subjects of myth. So when the other appears, even if, as here, in a restaurant review, we should think that there is probably truth in it. Our default position should be to think of the possibility of that truth, not denigrate the other.

What for?
Endless, esoteric, boring, philosophy posts
'We were sequestrated off from the main room in a plain wooden booth, as if we were planning a big drug deal.'

That is indeed where the drug deals took place when BB was the Drum
Well remembered Steveo. All got a bit messy and surreal towards the end when the place got really busy but nobody was actually drinking (or eating). Anyone recall the night they ran out of all booze at 7pm?
We had to go and get our own from Iceland

I was drummed out of there
I remember going to the drum a couple of times, it was completely dead apart from a couple of old boys at the bar and the bulldog. I never quite worked out why people on here seemed fond of it.. until now..
