Crown & Greyhound to reopen on 14 June

Love it how the new manager describes it as the "finest pub in Dulwich Village"
Yeah ,I thought that .Trying to be funny ...?

And I would have thought that Hamlet supporters are most likely to use a pub near the ground .

Looks like a promotion for Brian Gallagher, from the Plough to the Dog - I wish him and the pub well.
Did they say which year?
Only 2 months to go

or 14 smiling smiley
Or 26.
And 33 months since it closed.

Looking back at another thread at the time, the OP said it was due to reopen in 2017. What did Toff know that we didn't, I wonder?
0801 the morning after 22+ people are murdered in Manchester and the Crown and Greyhound tweets: "It's official! We'll be waking up with a brand new pub June 19th! So put it in your diary & let the countdown begin!"

Great to know that some combination of that pub's management/ Mitchells and Butler have such humanity.

Im sure that everyone waking up is shocked and saddened by the news from Manchester. Lets not be so quick to brand anyone as lacking in compassion. Some people may not have seen the news, some people may react by 'getting on with things', and not being 'intimidated'.....

in anycase, perhaps lets just keep this thread to news about the pub I think.....I for one, am cautiously optimistic about it being open again in a month...

Well said, catty.
Trump, terrorists, elections, Brexit, we need a bloody drink
Agreed let's not jump on people for getting on with their lives.

Anyway, its now 19th June rather than 14th June? Slight slippage.
The news from Manchester is awful, and prayers go out to everyone involved. But terrorism happens on a daily basis around the world, often never reported in the media. Do we stop going about our business every single time something awful happens? Maybe timing wasn't great, but let's not jump to conclusions. I'm sure it was not intended to be offensive.

An Estate Agent in Manchester took ALL the house pictures out of their window
and replaced them with I love Manchester posters as a sign of respect.

M&B announce the opening of their new pub.

Says it all.

I'm with bgw on this.

It's possible to schedule tweets to go out automatically at some point in the future, so maybe that was done - personally I was working late last night, slept in and so didn't hear the news from Manchester until 8.30AM, quite possibly the same for the tweeter. Nothing to see here, I think.
The opening of the pub is a good thing.

The terrorist attack is a very bad thing.

How on earth they ended up on the same thread........
bgw if you're that offended why don't you contact the author of the tweet ?
he/she may be obliged to promote the opening as of today / may not have checked the news bulletins / may have thought it's not their place to comment on the atrocity using the channel they've (presumably) opened specifically for the pub.
Talk about looking for offence. You fools looking to attack people just for doing their job, because it's not on the terms you've just invented (for other people to oblige to !).
I notice you have no words for the perpetrator, but you do for some unrelated person.
Did you preface YOUR first business/work comms today with a homage to the dead and injured, a minutes silence, by making a donation to charity ? What did YOU do if you're so squeaky clean ?!
Molehill bollox.
Different people deal with thinks in different ways - sometimes even laughing/joking is a response to fear.
The two things are not related. The tweet is fine.

Come off it, you plonker. Even you don't actually believe this twaddle.
Used this pub back in the 70's about 1/2 dozen times when I lived in Peckham.

Been once or twice in the 37 years I have lived in East Dulwich.
Last time in 2008 when I had visitors.

Haven't missed it over last couple of years.

Don't drink during the day. Don't travel far at night.
Unlikely to start using it now. Even if they were giving the beer away.

I look forward to not seeing you there
Well I'll be going in to see what's changed. I am enjoying my longer walks after doctors orders. It's the perfect summer time spot, let's just hope it's not been ruined with a unsympathetic refurb. I look forward to seeing some of you there!

Just think of all the missed opportunities you have had over the years of not seeing me there.

I didn't miss one

A royal garden party at Buckingham Palace went ahead yesterday. "Keep calm and carry on"?

Of course you are.
Come on Foxter, don't paint yourself into the silly corner

It's nice to stride out on a Sunday, do & see something new.

I expect to fly by one day and see you there, with a shandy/ale in hand.
